Ok, today is election day so, being me, I thought I would give some views on it.

Ok I guess I should offer some explaination as I'm sure some of you will be critisizing me for this.

1: I have my own politics and so far NONE of the parties have come close to agreeing with (apart from some of the Lib Dem policies)
2: I don't particularly like british politics or any other for that matter, as I said I have my own and that suits me.
3: I hate the fact that I have to feel pressurised into voting because some poor sod in another country doesn't get the chance to vote. STOP THAT!! I'm not guilty of their oppresion so why are you trying to MAKE me vote. Isn't this democracy based on choice... I CHOOSE NOT TO VOTE! DEAL WITH IT!!
4: And this is out of pure lazyness - My polling station is 8 miles away!! SCREW THAT!

So there you go, my reasons for not voting, not all of them, but the main ones. If you dissagree with me on any of these (*and have a valid point) then post a comment.

I'm not gonna say don't vote because thats not what this is about, I'm just saying why I am not voting :)

String theory (beware I took ages researching and writing parts of this - a long read but please do if you have time)

Ok, so I've been interested in this theory for a fair while but never thought much about it to be quite honest, but the other day I picked up the latest copy of "new scientist" and while reading through I came upon a great article on this very subject.

ok so I know most of you are probably thinking what the hell am I on about, well ok I'll try and explain string theory as easily as I can (although I'm not an expert myself)

Think of a guitar string that has been tuned by stretching the string under tension across the guitar. Depending on how the string is plucked and how much tension is in the string, different musical notes will be created by the string. These musical notes could be said to be excitation modes of that guitar string under tension. In a similar manner, in string theory, the elementary particles we observe in particle accelerators could be thought of as the "musical notes" or excitation modes of elementary strings.

In string theory, as in guitar playing, the string must be stretched under tension in order to become excited. However, the strings in string theory are floating in spacetime, they aren't tied down to a guitar. Nonetheless, they have tension. The string tension in string theory is denoted by the quantity 1/(2 p a'), where a' is pronounced "alpha prime"and is equal to the square of the string length scale. If string theory is to be a theory of quantum gravity, then the average size of a string should be somewhere near the length scale of quantum gravity, called the Planck length, which is about 10-33 centimeters, or about a millionth of a billionth of a billionth of a billionth of a centimeter.

Unfortunately, this means that strings are way too small to see by current or expected particle physics technology (or financing!!) and so string theorists must devise more clever methods to test the theory than just looking for little strings in particle experiments. String theories are classified according to whether or not the strings are required to be closed loops, and whether or not the particle spectrum includes fermions. In order to include fermions in string theory, there must be a special kind of symmetry called supersymmetry, which means for every boson (particle that transmits a force) there is a corresponding fermion (particle that makes up matter).

So supersymmetry relates the particles that transmit forces to the particles that make up matter. Supersymmetric partners to to currently known particles have not been observed in particle experiments, but theorists believe this is because supersymmetric particles are too massive to be detected at current accelerators. Particle accelerators could be on the verge of finding evidence for high energy supersymmetry in the next decade. Evidence for supersymmetry at high energy would be compelling evidence that string theory was a good mathematical model for Nature at the smallest distance scales.

Ok phew, thank god that's over, jeez that took damn ages to write! Next time I have something strange and hard to explain and I start getting the notion to write a damn huge essay on the subject, PLEASE SLAP ME!

That said and done, I'm off to rest my fingers.

Well as the title suggests I have nothing to do and no-where to go,well it is quarter to three AM.

Oh well, guess I'll just stay up till it's time for college, I should probably go to bed as I will most likely fall asleep while someone is yapping on (probabaly a tutor, oh well, won't miss much then will I)

Hmm after (and probably during) college I shall be partaking in some drink swigging in the new and (shittily) refurbished Yates's - and boy does it look shit. Oh well beer is beer is beer is beer, and so on and so forth.

Bin chatting to some random person on YIM for the best part of 3 hours and well, i know this much, after tonight I wont be speaking to this person again, thats for sure.

Anyway, time for me so do the rounds and find somrthing to do. The rounds consists of me getting up, goin downstairs rummaging for food, finding none, complaining to myself, goin into the living room to find the window is open and the whole room is bloody freezing, then returning upstairs, no food, cold and pissed off.

Today, The Day Before, and Well Every Other Day

I woke up, got off my bed and messed around with the computer, first thing I do in the morning and I know thats fairly sad but hey, it's my life. I usually check my bands on Project Rockstar (PR from here on) and then hit IRC and see what has happened over night (which is usually nothing) and say hi to anyone that is in.

After messing about for an hour on the pc I'm feeling decidedly STARVED as usual so I go downstairs and knock together some pasta'n'sauce. After eating that I start the shower and let it heat up, while doing that I take a look at whatever I was doing the previous night (usually some C++ or mIRC scripting or something equally as geeky) and mess around with it.

I take a shower, you can guess that part.

After my shower I decide to trim my now rather out of hand beard, so I grab the scissors and attack it (evenly), I also shave the throatie part right outta it. Strict orders from my ladyfriend. Hehehe.

Anyway time to get dressed, so I grab whatever comes to hand, ooh a 4ftFingers T-shirt and jeans, and start to look for for my hat (because I'm growing my hair at the moment and can't style it right now, I NEED A HAIRCUT but I'm not getting one, sod that, hehehe tell you later) ARGH... I can't find my hat!! nightmare because I know I have it somewhere. After a good 30 min search I decide to wear a crappy black one that I found on top of the wardrobe.

I leave the house and go on my way to college.

College sucked today, nothing fun happened and I think I only laughed once, I like to laugh atleast ten times in a day. Oh well I'll live because nothing bad happened today. Hehehe, anyway that was (very briefly) college.
Hometime, yeah so now i'm at home, I've been here about 45 mins and typing this for about 5. Tonight I may update this again, I dont know.

Right folks, im gonna start putting PHP scripts and other random bollocks on this thing - It needs some purpose other than my life, which, to be frank (frank whos frank!) is rather boring at the moment.

So I think I shall be doing about 4/5 a week depending on if i find anything thats helpfull or fun, I wont just put something up for the sake of it dont worry.

I should be posting the first PHP script soon.

ok so I'm drunk, sue me!

Me and matt went out for a session last night at 7 after a decent Cisco lesson.
started of in yates and had 2 pints, the onto music ground bar, and had a pint of stella, then on to brb and had 4/5 bottles of corona and a REALLY NICE pizza (I'll be going back on tuesdays!!) then onto bar Phono (i think??) It, was gay night and we didn't know so we stayed in for a bottle o beer and then left (didn't fancy the touchy feely) the onto flares in which we had a bottle of WKD each (which was £6.80!!!!) then we lft there after getting a guy inot shit with a couple of lasses, much fun, then onto the cockpit which was a right laugh, we got in at about half eleven and it was "slam dunk" club-night so we stayed in till it closed at half 2!! we had about 7 bottles o beer in there, at 1.50 a time ye can't go wrong!!!, the I wlked matt to his g/f's club then I went for a taxi, realised they wouldn't be coming for a good few hours so I walked up to the train station ( a good 15 min walk but it was fine I was talking to more drunks =D) then I got a taxi all the way home (which cost £17:30!!!!!) had a really good night! i have no idea how much i spent, i dont even wanna think about it, but i know it was alot and im gonna regret it tomorrow!!

6: You will not give in or accept that anyone other than yourself is correct and when you realise that you are wrong you sulk, now this really annoys me because being told you are wrong when you are clearly not is one of the most infuriating things you can have happen to you.

7: You criticize other people for what they think, look like, believe in etc, and persecute them for it. This may be seen as freedom of speech but I don't think that human right extendss so far as to drive someone to commit suicide do you!

8: You think ADD in children is a problem, smack them in the back of the head a few times with a wooden meter stick and they'll pay attention (do not actually hit your children or anyone else's as this is illegal (and you and probably I could get arrested for it).... I warned you)

9: You think Y should be a vowel " 'cause you say so " . You are a moron and you need hitting with a wooden meter stick in the head a few times.

Global warming has already affected the weather, and there is nothing we can do about it. Just look at some of the prime examples - Floods in the Phillipines, The icecaps melting and there are loads more.
The thing is, if it's happening it was going to happen anyway so reducing CO2 emmisions, etc, isn't going to help. Now I don't believe in fate, but I am a realist, and I also believe that we are part of nature and that everything we do is part of nature. So nature, in reality, is screwing itself over.
Or to be more precise, screwing us over, because the Earth will recover, we just wont be here to see it. Maybe we just aren't capable of succeeding to exist longer than nature intends, maybe a new species will. I don't know, I'm not an evolutionary genius, or genius in any way for that matter, but I know what I believe, and now, so do you.
